I’m heading up the makeup team for Zombie Charge, and my company, Decimated Designs, will be sponsoring! The photos from this weekends shoot are starting to come out and I’m loving our work even if it was the super-quick variety :)

Register today for this 5k post apocalypse, obstacle-ridden, Zombie Charge. As a Racer, you wear flags that represent your life, get them captured by a Zombie and become a Zombie yourself. The course will have obstacles, trails, MUD, open fields and other things to slow you down along the way! Of course, after your last flag is captured (and it won’t be easy to keep them!) and your’re done pouting, crying, kicking and screaming, finish the race and come party with the rest of us. But, if you are lucky enough to cross the finish line with one or all of your flags, you will be considered among the elite!

Or come to the race as a Zombie and spoil the fun of those who think they’re fast enough to slip by you! Come dressed in your Zombie-Best or get help from our top-notch make-up team! Did you ever do pen and ink drawings in school or doodle on your homework with scratchy lines? I used to draw anime characters and scan them into the computer to colour them. I remember having a hard time getting the lines to translate from my paper to the program.

In these garments, Hart’s wild hand drawn lines create life and excitement. Their imperfection connects to our own. (Are flaws not the ultimate characteristic of being human?)

And yet, the delicate realization of these intricately wild lines has been made possible by technology. Drawings were scanned and laser cutting used to get the precise, clean edged cut.

Looks like I’ve already graced the pages of Makeup Artist Magazine! I’m reading some of my old issues in prep for #IMATS NYC 2013 & noticed that there I am standing in line in a photo from their coverage of IMATS 2012 lol! They also caught me in line for 2011 but I can’t seem to recall where I saved that pic…

how do i get people to do future work with me at imats? :)

Are you asking how you get to do work AT IMATS? As in doing demos? Or are you trying to get future work by networking at IMATS? Either way, I’d say:

Know your shit!
Be friendly and treat EVERYONE as if they are important (you never know when you might be talking to the next big thing in the industry)
Business Cards!
Be a little unique, if they don’t remember you for something you talked about/wore/etc. then they won’t think of you when they need somebody in the future.
Nobody knows everything, and often times when working with someone they may want you to do certain things “their way”, asking the right questions about a new product or technique can actually be a big plus because they see you WANT to learn… That said, if you ask a very basic question then you may be blown off almost immediately as someone just starting out.
Be who you are, be confident, and feel like you belong there.
